Learning Conversations Day
We recognise that conversations are vital to build meaningful relationships – not just between parent and child but even between students and teachers. We want to ensure our students grow as individuals and we want to support them academically and in their personal growth.
Hence, Learning Conversations Day is a series of events and workshops to help teachers and students achieve just that! Students held 1:1 meetings with their teachers and engaged in various educational workshops during the day to encourage good communication, and help build a holistic learning experience.
Horses and Canines for Healing
Nexus was excited to welcome the caring canines from The Dogtors (formerly known as Animal-Assisted Interactions Singapore) and the gentle horses from Healing Horses Singapore. As part of our Care:Self Week, these furry friends visited our campus to educate learners about the benefits of animal-assisted interactions.
Through engaging workshops, students had the opportunity to interact with the animals and discover how caring for them can enhance our own well-being. We are grateful for the positive impact these interactions have on our community!
Nexus Beach Clean-Up Initiative
Nexus has organised a community beach clean-up in Port Dickson to combat marine pollution and promote environmental awareness. Learners came together to collect litter from the shore and educate the public about the dangers of plastic waste in our oceans. This initiative not only helped clean up our local coastline but also showed our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water, promoting a culture of respect for marine ecosystems. As part of our citizen science efforts, participants weighed and identified the trash they collected, sharing their findings with the Ocean Conservancy to support ongoing environmental protection initiatives.
Pink October Fun Run
The Pink October Fun Run for staff and parents was a resounding success, offering an enjoyable and energising experience for all participants. Everyone wore the signature pink Fun Run t-shirts, adding to the spirit and unity of the event.
At the finish line, a photo booth with a pink-themed banner provided a memorable backdrop, with participants enthusiastically capturing the moment. Refreshments of chilled fruit were available, and each finisher received a medal as a token of accomplishment. The event celebrated fitness, community spirit, and support for a meaningful cause.
TISKL’s Diversity Week
As part of our commitment to fostering understanding, empathy, and mutual respect among our diverse students, staff, and broader school community, TISKL recently celebrated Diversity Week. We created a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels respected, valued, and appreciated through various activities. A highlight was the "Many Hands, One Community" event, where each member of the school stamped their handprint on a large banner, symbolising unity and the collective strength of our diverse community.
TISPC Student Council Food Drive
The TISPC Student Council organised a meaningful Food Drive, aligning their efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of "No Poverty" and "Zero Hunger." This initiative engaged primary school learners in a vital cause, emphasising the themes of "Responsible Leaders" and "Global Citizens."
Over a two-week period, learners were encouraged to donate dry food items, promoting a spirit of generosity and community awareness. Representatives from three local organisations—Make Over Society (PKIHS), Salvation Kids Association, and Pusat Komuniti Kasih Selangor—received the collected food items. This project not only provided essential support to those in need but also served as an invaluable learning experience for the learners involved.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Care:Mvmt (Care Movement) is a clarion call for care, concern, empathy and action.
At Taylor’s Schools, we know that each and every one of our teachers and staff play a vital role in shaping our learners to become the catalysts of change that the world needs today. As a centre of knowledge, practice, and skill, we want to instil in our learners a deep sense of care for their overall well-being, their community, and the world. The opportunity to make an impact on our learners exists in various settings, from the classroom to co-curricular activities, collaborations, and even their daily interactions with peers.
We believe that each and every one of our learners can make a difference, no matter how small, in their own unique way. Together, we can make a difference.
